An ordinance creating the Currituck County Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB) was first adopted in 1991. In October, 2007, the EDAB was restructured by the Board of Commissioners to include 7 members rather than 9 to be in-line with the expansion to 7 County Commissioners.
The Board's function is to work closely with the County's Economic Development Director in formulating an economic development program and recommending projects to the Board of Commissioners.
The Economic Development Advisory Board and ED Director work toward:
- attracting new industries to the County;
- encouraging agricultural development;
- creating capital for business and industrial venture;
- promoting and encouraging tourism;
- seeking advice and recommendations from the tourist industry;
- studying and enhancing tourist-related services; and
- promoting other activities of a similar nature.
The Economic Development Advisry Board was appointed at the January 5, 2009 & February 2, 2009 meetings of the Board of Commissioners. These are the members:

The Economic Development Advisory Board typically meets the fourth Thursday of each month (no meeting in December), 7:00 p.m. in the board meeting room of the Bank of Currituck in Grandy. Meeting dates are subject to change (due to holidays).
