McDonald's eyed for Grandy
Bill Taylor, owner of Tandem, said the new McDonald’s fast-food restaurant will be located about a quarter of a mile south of Grandy Produce on U.S. Highway 158. It is expected to open in May, the week before Memorial Day.
Taylor said that before determining where Tandem will open new McDonald’s restaurants, the corporation’s real estate department and franchise owners conduct feasibility studies.
“Based on the feasibility studies that were done, this appeared to be a good location,” Taylor said last week.
Taylor’s other McDonald’s restaurantsin North Carolina are in Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Manteo, Elizabeth City, Currituck, Hertford, Murfreesboro and Ahoskie. The company’s three Virginia stores are in Suffolk, Franklin and Smithfield. Tandem, based in Elizabeth City, is expected to hire about 80 part-time workers, and is currently training managers.
Those interested in employment at the new restaurant are asked to direct inquiries to McDonald’s, P.O. Box 709, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
