Currituck Chamber of Commerce

College of The Albemarle's Small Business Center

Small Business & Technology Development Center (SBTDC)

Northeastern Workforce Development Board
The Northeastern Workforce Development Board offers incumbent Workforce and On-the-job-Training (OJT) grants to eligible businesses.  IWG allows business to receive up to $25,000 in a year with a $40,000 lifetime maximum to upgrade the skills of current workers.  OJT pays 50% of a newly hired employee's salary for up to six months.  Area businesses that have taken advantage of IWG include:

  • Hoffer Flow Controls, Inc.
  • Motion Sensors, Inc.
  • Regulator Marine, Inc.

  • Universal Forest Products, Inc.
To ensure that the skills of our region's workforce meet the needs of local businesses, NWDB works closely with other business-assistance agencies, such as the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) and North Carolina State University's Industrial Extension Service, and with approved training providers including the College of the Albemarle.

North Carolina Military Business Center

The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) is a collaborative effort between North Carolina business and industry and the North Carolina Community College System.  With satellite locations at Craven Community College, Coastal Carolina Community College and Wayne Community College, the NCMBC works through the 53 Small Business Centers at the other Community Colleges across the state to provide services.  The mission of the Military Business Center is to leverage the presence of the military in North Carolina to promote economic development and quality of life for all.  (910) 323-4587

NC Procurement Technical Assistance Center

NC PTAC helps businesses obtain contracts by providing comprehensive assistance in selling products and services to local, state and federal government entities.  In program year 2004, the NC PTAC assisted businesses in securing $1.1 billion in contract awards.  Click here to view the PTAC Action Plan
