On March 22, Peter Bishop, Currituck County Economic Development Director, presented an economic forecast to the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce. Some highlights include:
- 40% of the County's employment is directly related to tourism
- Healthcare and Professional Services industries are growing
- 2014 tourist spending increased by 4.70% over 2013
- Unemployment rate is down 17% from 2011 to 2015
