The final draft of a Hotel Market Study for Currituck County, prepared by hospitality industry experts HVS, is now available online.
An early draft of the Currituck County Hotel market study was released earlier this year. Economic Development Director Larry Lombardi presented highlights from the final version during the Board of Commissioners meeting on June 18, 2018.
The 100+ page report offers a deep dive into regional and national hotel trends, market analysis, area competition and even projections of expenses, income and occupancy rates.
The final verdict? HVS determined that a mainland hotel was feasible and recommended that one be considered for mainland Currituck County (HVS offered industry insights and recommendations only, they will not be involved in the selection or construction of a hotel property).
As stated in the earlier draft, HVS recommends a partnership with a mid-level lodging brand such as midscale, limited-service property, such as a Tru by Hilton, Avid by Intercontinental Hotels Group, or Best Western Hotels & Resorts SureStay Collection.
