Tim and Taylor Paasch have owned the Eagle Creek Golf Club and Grill in Moyock for 6 years.
Can you describe your business?
We’re an 18-hole championship golf course with a full-service driving range. We have the conventional golf carts as well as the new and exciting way to play golf on the Golf Boards ("Surf the Earth").
We also have a full service restaurant with a variety of awesome foods from Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl to Deep Fried Catfish. We try to use only fish, fruit and vegetables from our local vendors and fisherman.
Weekends are rocking when we host some of the best local bands and DJs around. Our back patio garage doors open up to a beautiful sunset setting behind our blazing fire pits. We also have a 200-person event building that hosts everything from weddings to graduation parties or even yoga classes!
Have you always lived in Currituck or did you relocate here?
I was born and raised in Virginia Beach and we owned a small cottage on Tull’s Bay growing up. We spent entire summers sailing, water skiing and playing in the shallow waters. So now my son gets to see where I grew up in the summers and enjoy the quiet living of Moyock.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
Funny! Everyone always wants to have their own bar and what would make that better than to get a golf course with it? My son played golf in high school and I’ve played since I was in my early 20s. I’ve played many prestigious courses and had the opportunity to play with several professional golfers over my years of playing. So what better way to play and work than work with your son.
What's your biggest challenge of owning a business in Currituck?
Getting customers to make the drive from Virginia to the OBX to enjoy what we have to offer.
What's the best part?
I’ve made a bunch of new friends and we like watching people enjoy our hospitality.
What advice would you give to someone interested in starting a business in Currituck County?
Take care of your locals and they’ll take care of you.
