Scott DeMasse is president of CMIT Solutions of the Outer Banks. CMIT provides responsive, professional IT support and technology services for businesses. They perform regular ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and backups - everything necessary to ensure an efficient, safe, and reliable IT environment.

Do you remember the moment you decided to start your business?

Yes, after providing IT services at an enterprise level for almost 20 years, I decided to bring my experience, expertise and see what CMIT Solutions could offer to the small businesses in northeastern North Carolina.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned as a small business owner?

I enjoy helping people solve their problems, especially in the technology area.

Why did you choose to open a business in Currituck County?

We moved closer to family and realized that Currituck was also a central location for Chesapeake, Elizabeth City and the Outer Banks.

What’s your biggest challenge?

Finding qualified and reliable employees is one of the biggest challenges that we face.

What are the biggest rewards?

Satisfaction in providing people with solutions for their business at affordable prices. As we talk to prospective clients, I hate seeing them being taken advantage of by other technology providers.

What sets your business apart?

Experienced and professional business consulting and technology services at affordable prices.

What advice you would give to someone starting a business in Currituck?

Find ways to be involved in the community, such as the Chamber of Commerce and other networking events, as well as helping with the numerous non profit organizations.
