I grew up on the Outer Banks and Basil is originally from Greece. We opened in Currituck in 1991. We found a great old potato packing shed that was perfect for our business! We figured that people heading to the beach would be sure to see us.
I grew up here and love this area! When I married Basil we needed a way to make a living and to stay here. At that time, it was a much more seasonal area than it is now. So, we combined our skills and opened up shop.
Getting people to stop was actually more challenging than expected. Everyone's in such a big hurry to get to the beach. I hear from my customers everyday, “I've been passing this place for years and always wanted to stop.”
Strive to be the best at what you do. And advertise!
If you take the time to stop in, you’ll be amazed by the variety and craftsmanship we offer. We have everything from classic and classy to comical and cutesy. We add new items every year to keep things fresh and everything’s available in 10 finish options. We're just 5 miles north of the Wright Memorial Bridge. Make yourself stop once and you'll want to come back year after year!
