Angie Cramer is the owner of Island Life Spray Tan, a mobile spray tanning service available to customers throughout Currituck County, the Outer Banks and Virginia Beach, VA.
I’ve been in the cosmetology industry for over 26 years, the last sixteen being in and around Currituck County.
Of course! After closing my landscape company of 18 years, I decided to utilize my degree in cosmetology to open a mobile spray tanning business. I wanted to continue to be self-employed and wanted a new career that I would love.
As a spray tan artist, it’s my goal to make every customer look great and feel confident in a natural-looking tan. Our customers leave our tanning pod ecstatic and ready to schedule their next appointment. Seeing the faces of so many happy customers as they watch their tan lines disappear motivates me to continue to grow my business.
My husband and I first moved to Currituck County when he was relocated to the Dam Neck Naval Base. After he was discharged from the Navy, we decided to stay in Currituck and raise our two daughters because we love the beachy, quiet atmosphere.
Every appointment is special, however an appointment with a first-time customer is an especially unique experience. Some of the most fulfilling moments in my work come from watching skeptical clients during their first tan line reveal. I follow up after all of my sessions and receive a resounding amount of responses from cheerful clients who feel beautiful in their new tans.
My extensive experience in beauty and degree in cosmetology ensures that my clients receive nothing but the best work. We give all of our clients a hand-sprayed, personalized tan using only all-natural ingredients.
I would advise anyone wanting to start their own business to believe in their idea and do what is possible to make their dreams come true. You must be able to identify your clientele and always be willing to grow. Most importantly, a business owner should have fun and remember that ‘it’s not a job when you love what you do.’
