Why Currituck County?

I moved to North Carolina when I was 16 years old.  I spent a few years living on the Outer Banks, then relocated to Currituck when I was 18. So I’ve lived in Currituck all of my adult life. I love everything about Currituck. The beautiful landscapes, the down to Earth people, the nature and culture.

Do you remember when you decided to start your own business?

Photography evolved into a business for me, I honestly cannot remember the day that I decided to do it for a living. I do remember the day that I decided that I wanted to learn how to take a picture in manual instead of auto on my camera. I began to search ways to take a picture inside without using the flash, then, I just never stopped trying to learn about it. Photography fascinates me, and I truly enjoy getting to connect with so many people through my work.

What’s the best part about running a business in Currituck County?

The people that I get to work with are the best part. Currituck is a great location for any small business, but especially a business that has the freedom to travel.  I like being able to commute to our surrounding locations: Virginia, the Outer Banks, Elizabeth City.  We have extensive resources here, while Currituck still maintains a very cozy historical landmark vibe.  As a photographer, I love that we’re surrounded by beauty everywhere we look.

What’s the hardest part?

The hardest part is the marketing.  I’m an artist, so it’s been a whole new journey to learn the ins-and-outs of digital-age marketing.

What advice would you give to someone interested in starting a business in Currituck County?

Utilize your resources. The Currituck Chamber of Commerce, the marketing specialist at the Visitor Center, and College of the Albemarle have a ton of free resources. They also offer counsel and guidance to help small businesses.

What do you want people to know about you and your business?

I believe that choosing a photographer is about more than just hiring someone with a camera to document your day. Your photographer should be someone who makes you feel comfortable, someone who eases the craziness of a day, and maybe, someone who eventually becomes a friend.

I am a lifestyle portrait photographer, so I love images with lots of movement, emotion, and interesting natural light. I am dedicated to your entire experience with me from the first email, to beyond gallery delivery.

I offer Simple, All-Inclusive Pricing I never want you to have to choose your favorite images and I never want to restrict the images I edit and place in your gallery. My style of photography results in a collection of images that speak to your families unique beauty and connection. Your session fee includes the on location session experience, usually around an hour and a half and all the high-resolution digital files from your gallery to keep for life and print and use as you see fit.

You will also receive a stunning complimentary custom album from your session hand designed by me. I want all my families and couples to take away something tangible from their session.
