Can you describe your business?

I do residential plumbing, light commercial plumbing and repairs. I’m also a home warranty contractor for several home warranty companies.

Why did you decide to go into business for yourself?

Started plumbing out of high school and loved that type of work at the time. I started off plumbing new construction beach houses on the Outer Banks.

What’s an important lesson you’ve learned as a business owner?

I enjoy solving everyone else’s plumbing problems.

Why did you choose Currituck County?

I’ve been here most of my life. Relocated from Dare County in 1980. Currituck is less expensive than the beach and close enough to get to the work we do.

What are your biggest challenges as a business owner?

Taxes... too high. It’s also hard to find good help.

What are the biggest rewards?

Working my own hours which usually consist of 10 to 12 hours a day, sometimes seven days a week.

What sets you apart from other similar businesses?

Personal attention with lots of experience. I am a one man band!

What advice would you give to someone starting a business in Currituck County?

Be honest and give the customer great value for what they pay you.
