Currituck County residents are invited to participate in an online flooding survey.
A Duke University graduate student is conducting a survey about flooding risks and history in Currituck County. The 10-minute survey will be available online through March 2018.
The goal of the graduate's research study is to "create maps that record flooding hazards in Currituck County by utilizing the local knowledge of county residents about flooding history and assessing community members’ perception of flood risk."
The research will help form a record of areas impacted by flooding within Currituck County. Currituck officials will use the results to inform future planning, management and monitoring of flood hazards.
Online feedback will be used in writing a qualitative research report, which will be published online and shared with The Nature Conservancy and Currituck County Planning Department.
